By now, spam is no stranger to your inbox. Many
people are receiving hundreds of messages every day and the
numbers are growing. Spam is a common term used to describe
unsolicited e-mail. Companies and individuals send spam for
one reason...Money. It is very inexpensive
to send spam messages to millions of people. Now, I know what
you are thinking, "Doesn't everyone just delete it?"
The answer is that over 99% of people do delete these messages.
That leaves less than 1% that actually responds to them. This
is considered to be a success and turns a quick profit for
the spammer.
So, now we know what spam is and why people send it. Now I'll
describe how they are sent. Spammers harvest lists of e-mail
addresses primarily from websites, newsgroups, and mailing
lists. Then the messages are sent out using accounts that
do not exist, or ones that are unable to accept replies. CTI's
Spam Protector has been developed with these fundamentals
in mind. What you will see next is a step-by-step demonstration
of the CTI Spam Protector process.
